Fylde IVC is, I guess, the best kept secret in... well, the Fylde.

Have we got your interest yet?

Ok, so it is essentially a social club, but a social club with a difference. The thing about the IVC is that it is run by its own members for its own members. At this point I would ask don't get hung up on the name. We'll tell you about that later.

Let me tell you a little about what we do.
Members of the group hail from all walks of life
The emphasis really is aimed at 'like minded' people.

Do you like theatre trips, socialising in pubs and restaurants, going to see bands, badminton, cycling or do you hanker to discuss your last 'great read' with a group of like minded people?

We recently had a great night out when we went to see the local cover band 'The Blue Pig Orchestra'. Not an orchestra as such but they did a wonderful rendition of songs such as Beverley Knight’s - Piece of my Heart, and some real rocky classics.

Other choices include a Go Karting event in the near future. See 'Club-Events'.

Members of the group hail from all walks of life and although it is essentially aimed at graduates and professionals (a throwback from its links to universities) the emphasis really is that it is aimed at 'like minded' people. I try not to stereotype but amongst its members you'll find, the archetypal girls about town, music connoisseurs, local history buffs, rugby playing lads and just people who want to have fun. The one thing that members do have in common is that they are a really friendly and welcoming bunch.

The aim of the club is not about making a profit so yearly membership costs are minimal, just enough to produce the monthly bulletin.

If you're getting a bit bored with the old, and fancy something new then call in at one of our Tuesday Evening Clubnights, or chat with a committee member arranged via the Contact Form. We can promise you will get a friendly response at the IVC as well as a chance to try something new and different.

Oh yes, IVC stands for Inter Varsity Club, should really stand for Interesting and Varied Connections.

WHY did I join IVC, and WHAT has it done for me?

Just over a year ago my life was very different... Christmas was approaching, I had no parties to go to, and I felt fed up.  Having just gone through a divorce, working alone at home, and my friends having their own busy lives, I felt that I needed to get out of the house more... Get a life! Problem was... Who could I 'get out there' with??

Then I saw an advertisement for IVC. An instant set of friends to go to the theatre with, parties, walking, cinema trips, dancing, badminton, meals out, and day trips! It sounded ideal to me.. So along I went to the weekly Pubnight to meet the faces behind these ventures.

I can't deny it was a bit scary at first - walking into a pub alone, to meet a group of people I didn't know.. but the Social Secretary was looking out for me and came to greet me, and she soon introduced me to the other members - and you know what? I felt I was in the right company - so much so, I booked to go to the IVC Christmas Party there and then!

Fast forward 18 months, and I've been to more events than I can remember - and I've organised a chinese meal and hosted a barbeque in my garden (the club helped me with the cost!). I've met so many really nice people, and their friends, and I now have a whole new social circle! Life has honestly never been better.

AND I've been to two Christmas parties!
